I hope you are enjoying your summer! Summer has always been my favorite season of the year. It’s the time of year when the pace slows down; sun-scorched days stretch into balmy evenings that remind me of my childhood in Hawaii. It’s also a season where we can all catch our breath and reset, recharge and renew before the Fall. August in particular is a month of transitions as the summer comes to a close and students begin returning to school. At RĒDEN we are finally transitioning from outsole development to shoe manufacturing!
As you may remember from our July update, our outsole molds have been a bit of a journey, but I’m happy to report that our outsole molds are finalized and should be completed in the next 2 weeks. Below are images of the final outsole trials.
The next step is for our factory to check each outsole size against each size of our production lasts to confirm that they are fitting together like the puzzle pieces they are. You can see below the trial of the Love Flat in size 37. This process will be repeated for every size from 35-42 in Women’s and 40-48 in Men’s. If there are any differences, then our factory will adjust our lasts accordingly so the shoe components fit together properly in production. Every millimeter matters!
After the outsoles have been checked against the production lasts, we will transition to the final stage of production: lasting and assembly! Materials and components have been ordered and are ready to go, and our insoles are scheduled to arrive in India by early September. We’ll keep you posted on final delivery dates once we have them, but at this point it’s looking like we’ll complete production by end of September / beginning of October, and our shoes will arrive to our US warehouse by end of October / beginning of November so we can start shipping out shoes!
Until our next update, please check out our latest blog post and video that shares tips on how to find comfortable shoes. Over the course of my career I’ve probably evaluated over 30,000 shoe styles and have picked up a lot of insight that I break down so you can be empowered with this knowledge too!
As always, thank you so much for your support.
